Good, so when I have the money in 5 years I can order it in green with a 6MT.

That’s over 9000% better

I hope it is a truly great car to drive. The horrible front end might work in our favor for depreciation...
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:11 |

I concur.
This car just went from “no way, never” back to a future possibility in 5-10 years (assuming the Pure version is
great to drive).

obamanotbad.jpg but can’t picture going 80K+ on a car I think is ugly. Only to go another 3-5k to “fix it”. Other cars come pretty out the box!
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:17 |

If it’s really, really good, I can see going $40k on it after 4-5 years , with a couple grand more to make it pretty.
If you want 4 doors + manual, the options are getting few and far between!

Or, the anticipated reliability ALWAYS does...

Well I mean Apple is also starting the trend of requiring you to buy additional stuff for it to work in the first place, so...

This is kind of why I’m seriously considering selling both my Sol and F30 to get a CT4-V when it comes out. It’s probably the true last of its kind and maybe one of the very last RWD manual sedans.

As I tend to keep cars for a while, this is one of those things I’d want to buy new. Only reason I didn’t get my E90 new was they didn’t make it anymore.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:23 |

Agree, but I just can’t picture it being that much of a standout from anything it will compete with. If the manual is the only differentiator I don’t think that could make me a buyer on it’s own.
Plus you know yours truly will sacrifice doors or years to get what I need.

![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:26 |

I get it, but the high sale price and quick
depreciation hit too hard for me to consider buying one of these new. Opportunity cost, and all that...
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:26 |

Finally! Now the only thing keeping me from buying one is just the lack of money.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:27 |

There’s a thought exercise for you— in the “inverse” case you often go “Hey, that’s a lot of money for a 15 year old car, but it’s a Toyota so the market recognizes how reliable it is...”
Has anyone ever said that about a BMW holding its value?
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:27 |

My SS is the last RWD, manual, V8 sedan ever to be sold in the U.S.

At least it’s a cosmetic fix. Cayman GT4/GTS 4.0 owners have to spend over $8,000 to fix the tall gearing issue!
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:29 |
|
That’s fair. I guess we’ll have to see what depreciation is like and what my finances looks like. The sticker on my M3 was 65k, and I paid 50k. Getting the exact car I wanted would’ve been worth that 15k. There’s probably not an alpine white over beige leather with the comp pack and premium sound out there.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:29 |

I’m hoping that they really pegged the steering and dynamics with this one. We’ll know soon enough.
Doors will
matter less to me as time goes on (until grandkids, I suppose!).
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:30 |

Uh... to save the planet! Yeah, that’s the ticket...
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:32 |

If I was a BMW dealer, I would honestly consider ordering a couple of these as soon as available and putting them on brand new cars to at least illustrate that the new M3/4 doesn’t *have* to look bad.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:32 |
|
The M4 will still be ugly because everything from the door to the rear bumper is poorly proportioned but this bumper treatment would make the M3 look fantastic in one fell swoop.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:36 |
|
I think I knew what I was getting into buying my 4 year old M3 for $40k, and that my brother understood the same buying my 12 year old M3 for $15k. What a man put up with
for love...

I don’t care about the M4).

Ha!
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:43 |

Honestly... when you consider how expensive the car is if it ticks all the boxes for you except looks this seems pretty worthwhile.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:43 |

Such a pesky problem...
Hopefully, by the time you’re ready to buy one nicely depreciated, someone will have already taken care of the front clip for you!
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:46 |
|
Yep - will be interesting to see how common it is.
Unfortunately, the great majority of buyers of new lux cars
would never consider modifying their cars.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:47 |
|
Some dealers might offer it themselves, honestly.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:47 |

Just to clarify you mean the yet to be named new higher trim V super; not the CT4-V correct? I think the new less exciting V will not be getting a manual.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:48 |
|
I think this looks better but I got over the giant kidneys surprisingly fast.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:49 |
|
That would be hilarious.
Plenty of dealers put aftermarket wheels or extra aero bits
on, and maybe a steel bumper on an off-road rig, but completely
replacing an ugly front clip on a sports car seems like it would have to be a first.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:50 |

Really?
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:56 |

I love cars, but they’re just a money sink...
I’m 42 and have never paid over $45k for a car. At some point, it’s just diminishing returns, I think
.
Maybe I will one day, but my long-term savings would
have to be completely fully funded to carry me to 95 before I’d even consider it.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 11:59 |

Production gearing is silly....2nd gear goes to nearly 90mph. For an engine that loves to be (and should be) revved high, you never get a chance on public roads.
EVO’s GTS 4.0 review summed it up nicely:
... the gearing is ludicrous, and I can’t think of many who wouldn’t be prepared to sacrifice being able to do 90mph in second if it meant they have more opportunities to experience the flat-six at full chat in fourth.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:02 |

Yep, Blackwing.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:03 |

Charger sold separately, but it still comes with a junk quality proprietary cable.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:05 |

Oh yeah that sounds awful but in the most amazing way. My Blob eye STI was the exact opposite. 12345 and you’re driving 45mph with some sense of civility.

I’ve seen how the BMW owners in SoCal drive, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s had two or three by then.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:07 |

Oh bummer, I thought for sure they were going USB C this time. Should probably order some more chargers, first batch of em arrive this week.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:35 |

Yeah, apart from “ not looking like a BMW” - and the fact that most grills are too big - it’s fine. I’m not saying I’m excited about it but I also don’t think it’s awful. If I had $70,000 sitting in my pocket and decided an M3 was what it should be spent on I wouldn’t spend $________ more on this bumper. I’d drive it and be happy.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:41 |

Cool- I actually kind of like the idea of the new, regular V with a manual and so I wasn’t sure if there was news I missed. I’m sure the Blackwing will be great though.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 12:50 |
|
Yeah they are, we’ll see where I am when this car actually goes on sale. There is also going to be someone else with a say in how I spend my money soon, so that’ll factor in as well. I never thought I’d spend 50k on a car, but here we are. It hasn’t turned out to be a terrible decision.
![]() 10/19/2020 at 13:08 |

You definitely have to factor in the joy it gives
you!

![]() 10/19/2020 at 13:13 |

None of the regular V cars will get a manual. Blackwing V is what’s formerly known as V, current V is more like Vsport.
And judging by how well the ATS 2.0T manuals sold, I highly doubt they will attempt another mainstream manual again. Same goes for Genesis and BMW. It’ll be the exclusive option on the highest trim.

Would be amazing advertising for this company to give him a replacement bumper free of charge.
